Prayer March in Cap Haitien. 500,000 Praising God!

written by Debbie Harvey

Haitian praying for Gods mercyPraising God for his blessings and thanking the US for help.500,000 or so christian Haitians taking to the streets in Cap Haitian asking God for mercy.   It was a prayer walk   for the future of Haiti. The march stretched for miles.   A few non christians showed up to chant but could not be heard above the prayers to Jesus. Our friends in Cap tell us that it was wonderful to here the singing and praising!  More and more stories are coming to us from Haitians who can’t wait to tell us all the great things that are happening. The name of Jesus is being raised everywhere. These are amazing, hopeful times.

A Heart for Haiti Luncheon and Fashion show…a HUGE success!

written by Debbie Harvey

Thanks to all who attended our first annual “Heart for Haiti Luncheon and Fashion Show”. So many to thank…
thank you John and Joe Cusato of Sunset Crest Manor for donating your beautiful location for our event. Tina and Dedra of WinGS, your decorating was spectacular! What you can do with NO budget is breathtaking. A La Carte catering..Karen you continue to support my HHA. Your heart for Haiti shines bright. Cindy your Hippie Chick show was incredible. Your line of womens clothes were fun and flattering! Saskia Photography, I’m so blessed to have met you today. You’re photographs “speak” volumes.
Barrel Oak Winery…thank you for the very smooth wine. We so enjoyed your tasting today. Thank you Sweetbaked for donating your bags of goodies for our guests. This day would not have been possible with the long hours from each of these thoughtful people.

Thank you to all of our friends that attended! It’s because of you that our kids in Haiti will have food and shelter. We made enough money today to feed 30 children for 3 months!! I thank each one of you for that wonderful blessing.
Jamon Montessori School kids emptied their piggy banks and raised $543 for our Kay Anj kids! Kids helping Kids…it doesn’t get much better than that! Thanks so much guys for your love for the kids in Haiti. Lisa and Michelle, the children are fortunate to have teachers that feel it’s important to teach them about helping children that are in need. Bless you both.
I am still flying high as i replay this beautiful, touching day over and over in my head. Can’t wait until we do it again next year!Check from Jamon Montessori (1)

Update from Dr. Dean Woodard…

written by Debbie Harvey

The team has been home for over a week and getting back to “normal” life since their trip to Haiti.
The following is an entry in Dr. Dean Woodards journal….

After working Friday 21st with Dr Ray’s Team, I decided to stay an extra day to help a medical team get started for their week of service. They arrived at the same hotel in Cap Haitian Friday evening and had 5 team members and a good amount of supplies, but no set plan. As it happened 5,000 people were to arrive by bus from Port au Prince Saturday, many with medical needs, so we set up a clinic/hospital annex at a gymnasium next to the Cap Haitien Justinian Hospital(now full). They continue working with the help of Haitian health workers. I bought $700 additional supplies for that clinic to operate through the week at local supply places and borrowed some from Dr Ray’s stock left unused to be replaced before they return again.
That evening I walked with a guy from Helping Haitian Angels, to the beautiful new playground they just finished building. There we played with at least 100 grinning children, still out playing at 10 PM in the dark! That project will bring a lot of joy to a many children.
In the midst of great poverty, we observed the grace, dignity, and appreciation of the Haitian people, but make no doubt, it brought us the greater benefit by opening our world to these new friends

THANK YOU Neelsville Middle School!

written by Debbie Harvey

What a wonderful group of caring, loving kids at Neelsville Middle School in Germantown, MD. We were honored that Ms. Denise Cherry invited us (Debbie, Lisa and Leila) to speak to her students about our kids in Haiti. We walked into her classroom and there was our Website on her whiteboard! We told the kids all about our Kay Anj kids…how they live, what they like to do, how they eat, go to school etc.
The Neelsville kids were attentive, polite and asked wonderful questions.
It was a blessing to be able to share our HHA story with these special kids.
They made hearts, hearts and more hearts for the orphans in Haiti. They wrote sweet messages, notes, poems etc. The kids in Haiti will be in heaven when they get the hearts made especially for them from the Neelsville kids! Thank you Neelsville and Denise for your kindness, caring, thoughtfulness. It will mean the world to our Kay Anj kids to know that other children are thinking about them and care about them! Hearts from Neelsville Middle school kids!Neelsville, us Denise and hearts
