It was an amazing week in Haiti…

written by Debbie Harvey

We left with 21 people from Park Valley church and Sudley United Methodist church. Many had never met. Five were teenagers. We worked long hard 12 hour days in dirt and sweat side by side. We got to know each other very well!
Whether working at the orphanage with our 24 orphans or at Calvary Baptist Church making cement, putting in windows, a new front door, or working up the mountain on the community water project, we all felt Gods presence.
Our 5 teenagers grew up during the week. They’re much more appreciative for all their everyday blessings.
At our Kay Anj D’ayiti orphanage we colored, made faith necklaces, made Jesus loves me pillows, watched our boys play in a soccer game (we tied 1-1!) and most importantly
we got applications in at 3 different schools for ALL of the orphans! Thanks to the support of wonderful friends, family, and people that care about our kids in Haiti we are able to pay for the tuition, uniforms and school supplies.

We’re packed and ready to go….

written by Debbie Harvey

22 of us met yesterday to finalize plans for next week in Haiti….

We’re packed (everything you need for a week in a backpack!), got our passports, shots, etc…

Thanks to many generous donors we have duffle bags full of coloring books, crayons, colored pencils, jump ropes, yoyo’s, stuffed animals, vitamins, books, etc..for the children of Kay Anj orphanage!  The kids will be thrilled!

We will paint their new home, build a “kitchen” for the manma’s that cook their food (they cook in a hole in the ground right now), we will take them to a local field to play ball, we will have bible time,  and play lots of games.  Their favorite is “duck, duck, chicken (duck, duck, goose)”…they don’t have a word for Goose in Haiti!
